Why convert from CFM to ASP?
Many websites have been and are being converted from CFM to ASP. For some the reason is the lower cost of ASP hosting and programming due to an abundance of ASP programmers. Others feel that ASP is faster, better supported, and more of an industry standard. Whatever the reason for converting it used to be that this conversion took many hours of tedious work, now almost anyone can convert a site from CFM to ASP with CFM2ASP.

Are there other programs that do this conversion?
No, as far as we could tell there are not. Last year I needed a program to do this conversion and was irritated to find that there was not one. So I started writing one right then. After many hours and two website conversions this is the tool to do it. I saved myself about 70% of the time it would have taken to convert a medium sized site from CFM to ASP. The ASP code needed only a little editing after the original conversion.

Is any editing of the ASP necessary?
Yes, in some cases you will need to edit the ASP. For instance the ColdFusion Evaluate() function can be converted to the ASP eval() but due to the nature of the evaluate function the chances that the code will work is unlikely. On the other hand many things that you would use Evaluate for in CFM, like dynamic form variable names, are unnecessary in ASP. Another instance that will need edited is the database connection string. Although CFM2ASP fills in this string, you may have to enter the database path if you are not using a DSN. (See the Program Help Topic 'What to Expect" for more on this subject)
